When all this is over

When all this is over,

when distance not a treasure,

proximity not a luxury,

I yearn to see you,

meet you,

hug you,

maskless.

When all this is over,

as we move on

with memories of those

who didn't.

Of what it is,

a natural disaster,

or idiocy that runs in all our veins?

When all this is over,

we pray,

we thank,

we relish the sunlight,

the air,

that's finally devoid of fear.

We behold what's lost and found,

perhaps to the grave,

perhaps no longer than a heartbeat.

When all this is over,

as we trudge our separate paths,

with hopes and dreams

of what could have been.
